Andalusia celebrates its blue leadership in Malaga
On July 22, the PROA 2025 Awards were held in Malaga. This event, organized by the Andalusian Maritime-Marine Cluster (CMMA), has become a key event for highlighting Andalusia’s leadership in the field of the sustainable Blue Economy.
The gala, held at Candado Beach and hosted by journalist Rocío Luque, brought together authorities, companies, researchers, and representatives of institutions committed to economic development linked to the sea. The event highlighted the importance of strategic sectors such as fishing, aquaculture, technological innovation, blue tourism, maritime infrastructure, and marine environmental protection.
The president of the CMMA, Javier Noriega, noted that the Blue Economy already represents more than 10% of Andalusia’s GDP and emphasized the need to strengthen public-private collaboration to continue advancing an innovative, competitive, and environmentally friendly economic model.
Furthermore, the event served to highlight the Andalusian Strategy for a Sustainable Blue Economy (EA2), promoted by the Andalusian Regional Government with an investment of more than €216 million. This clear roadmap positions Andalusia as an international benchmark in marine sustainability, thanks also to the creation of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Blue Economy, tasked with coordinating blue policies between now and 2028.
